PCLinuxOS is an operating system distribution.
PCLinuxOS is distributed as a live CD. You put in the
PCLinuxOS CD as your computer starts. You can then use your computer normally. It has all sorts of common software available. Look at internet websites. Email your friends and family. Share files over the internet or burn them on to a CD or DVD. Watch movies. Make music CDs. Students can do school work. Print photos from your camera. Plus there's more. You can add more software from the
PCLinuxOS internet.
PCLinuxOS can back up to a live CD or DVD in minutes. This is also good for transfering your system to a different computer, or as a handy cary around system. It is easy.
One command does it all. Customize the command to do special things. Traditional backups take more work. It detects the machines automatically. You don't need the laptop; just grab your CD/DVD. You could install it to a portable harddrive and have loads of disk space and a usable CD/DVD drive. It would take hours of work without a program like mklivecd.
Why I would recommend PCLinuxOS
PCLinuxOS has an excellent community and people are what make a distribution. Sure, they are not all perfect, but many are very helpful and the forums are an amazing resource for a
PCLinuxOS user. These people enjoy helping others.
If you try
PCLinuxOS, and you like it please help make it better for others. Make the time to check out the forums twice a week for a few minutes. Find out what is going on with others using it. Help out those you can. Share a little money for the developement of
PCLinuxOS by donating. The developers do this in their spare time. They work for a living doing other things. Above all, I say, be nice to other
PCLinuxOS users even if a few choose not to be. Perhaps they will too some day.

GregWeby is a
PCLinuxOS user. I am GregWeby. I am student in University. I typically work low paying jobs, nothing to brag about. I currently still use Microsoft Windows XP (TM) too. I use it mostly for a game I play and a few applications I have not replaced. Plus it comes in handy for software I got from others. I don't ever think I would buy it again, but I already have it and it still works for some things. I happen to use which ever works best for what I am doing.
PCLinuxOS is currently used less, but
PClinuxOS's usage is going up while the other's is going down.
