Do this, first open the PCLinuxOS Control Center -> System -> Services, check the box for harddrake to run at boot.
Shut down the computer, make your hardware changes and reboot.
You might want to consider switching off the harddrake service when your computer is all done and working correctly again.
Changing your graphics card
If you've changed a graphics card, and if X doesn't start and you get dumped to a prompt, log in as root and type:
XFdrake
Go through the configuration of your new graphics card and resolution, then type
reboot
and you should be all set.
If x does start without being dumped to a prompt do this anyway. Start PCLinuxOS Control Center -> Hardware, then from the menu bar - Options, check box for Expert Mode. Then Hardware -> Configure Video Settings, run through the setup of your card and resolution, accept the changes if asked and then reboot one more time to make sure you xorg.conf file is rewritten correctly.
More information about setting up 3D hardware acceleration for both nVidia and ATI is available from the Adding or Upgrading Hardware page.
