Virtualbox 3.0.10 now available for PCLinuxOS

VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Opera 10.01 update now available for PCLinuxOS

Opera 10.01 QT3 and Opera 10.01 QT4 versions are now available for PCLinuxOS Pass members. This release is a bug fix update fixing small niggles the were brought to light after the 10.00 release.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5.4 now available for PCLinuxOS

Mozilla Firefox has been updated to 3.5.4 which provides many stability updates.

The 11 critical Firefox 3.5 vulnerabilities were located in a variety of components, including Web worker calls, the GIF color map parser, the string-to-number converter, a trio of third-party media libraries, and both the JavaScript and browser engines.  Fireofox 3.5.4 is currently available on our premium server and shipping to the public servers shortly.

Wally wallpaper changer now available for PCLinuxOS

Wally is a Qt4 wallpaper changer, using multiple sources like files, folders, FTP remote folders, Flickr, Yahoo!, Panoramio, Pikeo, Ipernity, Photobucket, Buzznet, Picasa, Smugmug and Bing images. It runs under Linux, Win32, and MacOSX, and it’s available in many languages.

The NEW PCLinuxOS Magazine staff is pleased to announce a monster release of the October 2009 issue of the PCLinuxOS Magazine.

PCLinuxOS Gnome 2.28 update now available

Gnome 2.28 has been tagged and packaged for PCLinuxOS. Gnome 2.28 provides bugfix and translation updates and is a recommended update for everybody running Gnome 2.26 or earlier versions.

How to properly update PCLinuxOS.

Open Synaptic
Press Reload  To get current file list
Click Mark All Upgrades
CLick Apply

DO NOT USE apt-get update and apt-get upgrade from the command line. This has never been recommended. If you insist on using the command line, the correct procedure is apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade.  If for any reason the system says it is not able to retrieve a package do you wish to continue always say no, report it to the forum and try to update again later.

Hulu Desktop now available for PCLinuxOS

Hulu Desktop is a  standalone multimedia application that allows you to navigate and watch the contents of the Hulu network without using a web browser.  Mouse and keyboard support is enabled allowing your to Scan Hulu’s lineup of TV shows and movies, which you can browse in alphabetical order, by network or studio, or by Hulu channel.

Hulu Desktop 0.9.2 beta package is currently shipping to the public mirrors and is already available on our premium server.

Minimum requirements: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz At least 2.0 GB of RAM

Update: Now updated to version 0.9.3 beta.


PCLinuxOS Toolchain updated

PClinuxOS toolchain has been updated and shipping to the repositories. This brings in gcc 4.4.1 and glibc 2.10.1. Glibc is the core library in which all other progrrams are built upon. Please note the correct procedures for updating your PCLinuxOS system.
